Welcome to the Gyre Cleanup Project!

The Environmental Cleanup Coalition (ECC) is an independent, non-profit group organizing the Gyre Cleanup Project. The Gyre Cleanup Project is a large scale ocean rescue mission focused on removing debris accumulating in the North Pacific Gyre, revitalizing an ecosystem choking on human garbage, educating the public about the danger of plastics and advocating a culture that takes responsibility for its waste.

The Environmental Cleanup Coalition is working at the heart of the marine debris problem; however, ensuring the future health of the ocean is in all of our hands.

Our Plastic Problem

Discarded plastics are creating a growing “garbage patch“ in our oceans.

We Need One of These

Actually, we need about 10 large ships to transform them into floating islands, restoring our oceans back to health.

Healthy Oceans

We envision a future when are oceans our free of toxic plastic waste and sea life can flourish.
